Be kind, Uplifting Toward Palm Beach County Employees and Businesses

"Rather than adopting the longstanding snowbird culture of verbally condescending and berating employees as public vanity, Palm Beachers must begin considering top quality South Florida servers and managers as partners, not punching bags."

Dec 10 2019 (WPB) All Palm Beachers -- and South Floridians -- should make a 180-degree turn, dig deeply, and become more kind and generous to our local small business owners, restaurant and club servers, and retail workers, as if they were friends and family from “back home.”

Many of the wonderful people who work in various Palm Beach County establishments deserve medals of honor for putting up with how awfully they are treated by entitled customers, diners, and members from near and far each year.

Everyone knows the fiscal conundrum that South Florida’s fair weather and six-month-plus-one-day season places upon business owners and their part-time workers here who are simply trying to earn a stable living. In fact, Florida’s for-profit employees deserve just as much love and support as our non-profit employees.

Sure, there are some employees who do not deserve to work in exclusive Palm Beach areas. Problem employees should be shown the door ... permanently.

However, rather than adopting the longstanding snowbird culture of verbally condescending and berating employees as public vanity, Palm Beachers must begin considering top quality South Florida servers and managers as partners, not punching bags.

Palm Beach County depends on great people to operate elegantly, so be especially kind and uplifting when local businesses are busy, overwhelmed, or if your plate of food is a bit behind schedule. Make no mistake: genuine grace, the sugar of kindness, and the attitude “what would Jesus do?” goes much farther throughout the Palm Beaches than any ugly salt or arrogant vinegar.

Without five-star service people and inventory, Palm Beach County could not function at its highest levels.

As we wait in joyful hope for the coming of the county’s beloved “Season”, make it your personal mission every day to treat our local retail businesses, food and beverage staffs, and hospitality workers here with love, respect and dignity.
