It’s hard to believe that local Business Tax Season begins next week.  It opens July 1 and runs through September 30.  Business Tax Receipts (BTR) is required by Florida law, Chapter 205 and Palm Beach County Ordinance, Chapter 17.17.

Our office is mailing 107,407 BTR Notices this Friday, June 29.   Florida Law and Palm Beach County Ordinance require every business selling merchandise or services, including one-person and home-based companies, obtain a BTR from the Tax Collector.  The BTR requirement is in addition to any other business licenses required by Florida law or local ordinances. 

To file for a BTR, a new business owner must bring a completed application into an office.  However, renewals can be paid online at taxcollectorpbc.com.  Credit cards, e-checks, and bank on-line bill pay are accepted for website transactions. 
Credit card companies charge a 2.35% convenience fee for each transaction.  This fee is collected by the credit card company. We do not accept debit cards. 

Other BTR information you may need:

• any change in location must be reported to our office 
• any change of ownership requires the new owner to complete a new application
• both of these changes require a new application be brought to an office in person
